THE FASHION INDUSTRY IN THE AFRICAN CONTINENT

The fashion industry has gone world wide since the ages began. Today, most continents of the world beginning with America and Europe, down to others like the Australia, Asia and Africa have a lot to tell about the fashion industry. In Africa for instance, the fashion industry is still coming up.

The African continent is witnessing a gradual revolution in the world of fashion. Most Africans has been great local inventors and manufacturers when it comes to the area of fashion. For instance in Nigeria, the Textile industry and the art of weaving are very much on. In the Northern Nigeria, the fashion art of “Tie and Die” is the order of the day. There is always the constant production of the wrapper materials all over the place. African women are generally wrapper lovers. No woman in African can live without the wrapper. The wrappers come in their droves and exotic colors.

In the area of fashion merchandising, Africa is also doing well. Most big time fashion dealers in Africa do engage in the importation of fashion products from other nations of the world. Perhaps the greatest business of most of these fashion merchants is the idea of importing used fashion products. Today, most Africans go for such fashion products. This is because most these used products are still very durable than the new ones being produced in some local manufacturing companies in Africa and in the Chinese nation. For instance, in the area of the shoes and handbags, the fairly used ones especially from Italy are usually very strong and durable than the new locally made ones.

In all, the African fashion industry has a long way to go. But the joy is that it is changing with a very wonderful pace.
