Christmas 2021: What’s open and closed during the holidays in Guelph – Guelph

There is no shortage of closings and service reductions around Guelph on Christmas Day.

Many of the regular businesses close their doors early on Christmas Eve and some remain closed all weekend, reopening on Monday.

Here is a list of what to expect while on vacation.

Shopping

Stone Road Mall is closed on Christmas Day. The mall closes early at 5:00 p.m. M. On Christmas Eve and will reopen on Boxing Day from 10 a.m. M. At 5 p. M.

Both Guelph Walmart locations will also close early on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. M. And they will reopen on December 26 from 6 a. M. At 11 p. M.

Most of the smaller retailers close on December 25 and change their hours on Christmas Eve and San Esteban. Customers are asked to call ahead.

The Rexall location at Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue will be open on Christmas Day and again on Boxing Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Shoppers Drug Mart on Eramosa Road is also open on Christmas Day from 10 a.m. M. At 6 p. M.

Banks are closed all weekend and there are no mail deliveries.

Food and drink

The LCBO locations in Guelph will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will remain closed until December 27, except for the one on Speedvale Avenue. It will be open on December 26 from 9 am to 6 pm

Many restaurants, including fast food restaurants, are closed on Christmas Day. Those wishing to go out to dinner should call ahead.

government facilities and services

City Hall offices will be open until 2 pm on Christmas Eve and then will remain closed until January 3, 2022. Other city offices will be closed December 25-28.

Library branches will close at 1 pm on December 24th and will reopen on December 27th.

The public drop off and transfer station at the Waste Resource Innovation Center will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

All community and recreation centers in the city will be closed on Christmas Day and December 26.

Transit

Guelph Transit offers its statutory holiday service on Christmas and Boxing Day between 9:15 a.m. M. And 6:45 p.m. M.

GO Transit offers its Sunday schedule on Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day, and its Saturday schedule on December 27 and December 28, which means there are no trains through Guelph.
