Saskatoon food businesses shut down for ‘significant’ rodent infestation

The Saskatchewan Health Authority public health department has closed a couple of Saskatoon businesses.

SHA said in a press release that the Afro-Caribbean Meat Processor and Afro-Caribbean Warehouse, located at 325 20th St. West, was closed after health inspectors visited the site on Dec. 15, 16, and 17 and found most of the food in the facility had been “significantly contaminated by rodents.”

SHA said it has seized all the food and secured it within the facility.

Consumers and facility operators who have purchased products from this food store and warehouse should discard all foods that are in permeable containers.

Products that are in intact waterproof containers should be washed with soap and water and disinfected with a solution of 15 ml of bleach per 1 L of water before opening the container or consuming the contents.
