Tim Hortons to open new drive-thrus in Wednesfield and Oldbury

Canadian coffee chain to open self-service restaurants in Bentley Bridge and Oldbury

The other will be a 2,800-square-foot unit on the former Toys R Us site in Oldbury.

Founded in 1964, Tim Hortons opened his first UK site in 2017 and now has 28 in the UK and Ireland, including one in New Street, Birmingham.

It is already headquartered in the UK in Wednesfield at Kennicott House, Well Lane.

The Tim Hortons brand is owned by fast food giant Restaurant Brands International, which also owns Burger King and Popeye’s Chicken. Together, the company has more than 27,000 restaurants around the world, operating through a franchise model.

He plans to create more than 2,000 jobs across the UK, bringing Tim Hortons restaurants to all major cities and towns by 2022.

Kevin Hydes, UK Commercial Director for Tim Hortons, said: “Having successfully opened our first restaurant in the West Midlands in 2018, it is my great pleasure to announce another opening in the region.

“We have always seen great enthusiasm and support from our guests in Birmingham and we know that the wider community is eager for more.

“Wednesfield has excellent transport links to Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley, so we are excited that locals are having the opportunity to fall in love with our brand.”

“Our staff makes the Tim Hortons experience so special, and we pride ourselves on the unique progression and training opportunities available.

“We look forward to recruiting a variety of exciting full-time and part-time roles and will be accepting applications starting today through our website.”

The bargain store and coffee chain will be part of the new 65,000-square-foot retail park development off Birchley Island.

The Oldbury Toys R Us site has been empty for more than two years following the collapse of the national toy chain.

Sandwell City Council has now approved the Hortons’ Estate plans to transform the site into Wolverhampton Road, which is expected to create jobs and attract investment to the city. The development will see the existing building divided and renovated to create two new units.

Hortons has agreed lease terms with B&M for one of the units on the site, which will be a new 20,000-square-foot store that will include the development of a 5,000-square-foot outdoor garden center.

A second unit will comprise a 20,750-square-foot retail facility, including a new mezzanine, and is currently on offer.

Hortons will also construct an extension to the existing building to create an additional 16,000-square-foot unit, which is intended for leisure use.
